▶ 3'Ain is een trio waarin Yamen Martini (trompet), Otto Kint (contrabas) en Piet Maris (accordeon) de krachten bundelen: ze spelen hedendaagse, worldwide jazz met invloeden uit de SWANA-regio (breder bekend als het Midden-Oosten).
De naam van de band is gebaseerd op ع , de achttiende letter in het Arabische alfabet: omdat die in Arabische chat- en sms-conversaties dikwijls wordt weergegeven als 3 en uitgeschreven wordt als 'ain, leek 3'Ain een gepaste naam voor het trio.
In 2020 releasde 3'Ain een eerste EP; in 2023 verscheen hun eerste album Sea Of Stories.
▶ 3'Ain is a trio in which Yamen Martini (trumpet), Otto Kint (double bass) and Piet Maris (accordion) join forces: they play contemporary, worldwide jazz with influences from the SWANA region (more widely known as the Middle East).
The band's name is based on ع , the eighteenth letter in the Arabic alphabet: as it is often rendered as 3 in Arabic chat and text message conversations and is written out as ‘ain, 3’Ain seemed an appropriate name tothe trio.
In 2020, 3'Ain released a first EP; their first album Sea Of Stories was released in 2023.
