This ticket will get you access to the Sunday morning talks on the conservation of breeding waders, bluedot waterbodies of Connemara, and ways to manage peatlands in a way that works with nature.
Improving the Quality of Peatland Habitats - Wild Atlantic Nature LIFE IP is a 9-year EU-funded LIFE Integrated Project that works with farmers, local communities and land owners to add value to the wide range of services provided from our Special Area of Conservation (SAC) network of blanket bogs and associated areas. In this talk you can learn more about the importance of protecting peatlands and how Wild Atlantic Nature is doing this with local farmers.
The Dawros River - A Connemara Blue Dot
Come and learn how precious your local Blue Dot (high Status) river is and how we can protect and restore it. We will look at where the Dawros flows, the biodiversity it supports and what is causing the river to be under pressure. Our rivers need to be protected and community plays an important role in doing that.
Understanding the Breeding Waders EIP – A Conservation Overview
Andrea Parisi, Lead Ecologist for the Breeding Waders EIP, will provide an insightful overview of the project’s aims and objectives. He’ll explore the current status of the wader species the project focuses on, the environmental and land-use changes that have contributed to their decline, and the targeted conservation actions being implemented to support their recovery.
Andrea will also outline how local landowners can get involved and play a vital role in this collaborative effort to protect Ireland’s breeding waders
Also check out other Nonprofit events in Clifden.
