WWE Ottawa - Lac La Peche Intro to Canoe Camping

Lac La Peche is a great place to try canoe camping for the first time! There are 34 campsites spread over 11 spots on the lake, ranging from a 30-minute to a 90-minute paddle in with no portages. Each site is equipped with a pit toilet, firewood, fire pit and food hanger. Canoe and kayak rentals are available onsite for a fee. The site check-in time is 1:30-8pm and check-out time is 11am, however all registered campers can stay within the park boundaries for the full day for which they have registered. There is a beautiful sandy beach at the boat launch to enjoy.

In order to attend this event, you will be required to book your own site and adhere to the rules of the NCC https://reservations.ncc-ccn.gc.ca/create-booking/results (make sure to select canoe camping from the top - it is not obvious on their mobile site)

Sites are approx $39 each per night and can accomodate up to 4 people in a single tent. Currently there are 4 sites availble under 6a, b, c, d and 3 sites under 7a, b, c. When booking your site, please stay within these two clusters as they are in close proximity to one another. Your host will be on site 6b. Sites will book up fast so it is recommended to secure them early. Should you choose to share a tent, coordinating the booking and dividing the costs will be your responsibility and everyone will need to have registered for the event and be a member of WWE. All cars will need to be parked at the boat launch and will be subject to a parking fee upon arrival.

Each participant will be responsible for their own gear and food. Closer to the date, we will host an information session to help you understand what gear is required and a facebook chat wil be setup to support sharing gear/tents/canoes/carpooling.

*Note - we will need to ensure that at least 1 person in each canoe has prior canoeing experience. While this is not a huge lake, the wind can pickup and we need people who know how to handle this. In our chat we will ensure that more experienced boaters are paired with those who have less experience.
