The Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department is honored to host the 79th Annual Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemen’s Association (SMVFA) Convention on April 26-27, 2025. This year’s convention is particularly special as we celebrate the installation of our Lifetime Member and Past Chief, Thomas A. Mattingly Jr., as President of the SMVFA.
Parade Details
đź“… Date: Sunday, April 27, 2025
⏰ Time: 12:00 PM
📍 Route: The parade will begin at St. Mary’s Ryken High School, travel down Fenwick Street, through Historic Leonardtown, and pass the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department (22733 Lawrence Ave.), where spectators are encouraged to line the streets.
Parking & Shuttle Service
For your convenience, parking will be available at:
đźš— Leonardtown Elementary School
đźš— College of Southern Maryland - Leonardtown Campus
🚍 Shuttle service will be provided from these locations to the parade area.

Road Closures & Restrictions (Effective 11:00 AM)
Full Road Closures:
•Camp Calvert Road – Closed from 11:00 AM until the parade clears
•Fenwick Street – Closed from Camp Calvert Road to Lawrence Avenue
•Lawrence Avenue – Closed from Fenwick Street to Shadrick Street
•Intersecting Streets Downtown:
- Courthouse Drive
- Washington Street
- All feeder streets along the parade route
Route 5 Lane Closures:
•Northbound Right Lane Closure at Lawrence Avenue – No right turns permitted during the parade
•Lane Closure at Fenwick Street Intersection for safety and traffic control
- Right turn from Route 5 onto Fenwick Street will be restricted
