Are you interested in becoming a Minis in Motion, Reflections, or Field Trip Volunteer with STAR? Join us for Minis in Motion Volunteer Training on Tuesday, Aug. 19! There are no sign-ups required, but participants must be 13 years and older. (Volunteers ages 10-12 may join the Junior Volunteer Training on Monday, Aug. 18.)
**Horse experience is NOT required!**
Minis in Motion Volunteers partner with our miniature equines on visits to memory care units, rehab facilities, and other community events. These volunteers are responsible for grooming prior to the visit, loading the trailer, and getting minis ready at site. Visits typically happen during the morning or early afternoons.
Reflections Volunteers, a training also covered in this event, will help with our Reflections program that meets every first and third Monday of the month. This program works with participants that have Alzheimer's or dementia, offering a time where they can groom a full-size horse, sweep the barn, walk through the barn, and enjoy some conversation with volunteers and other participants. Caregivers can either join in the equine-assisted learning or take some respite time.
Field Trip Volunteers, also covered in this training, work with school groups and others that may take a field trip to STAR. This includes working in a certain area of the field trip when participants split up into groups.
