Our Memory Walks have been bringing people together as a community for more than a decade, to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. 💙
The event is FREE and suitable for all, with two walks to choose from depending on your ability:
🚶 A short accessible walk around the park (approx. 20 mins)
🚶 A 5km/3.1 mile walk around the surrounding area (approx. 60 mins)
Both walks will begin at 11am.
There will also be a fun orienteering challenge for kids and 'forget-me-not' face painting as well as the usual family friendly attractions such as the amazing adventure playground. 🤸
Come along and show your support for an incredible cause! Help us raise awareness of the battle against this cruel disease, make a donation (however large or small), and get your friends and family to sponsor you.
Every penny raised will go to the Alzheimer's Society to help fund their important research and invaluable support for individuals and families living with dementia.
Although you can also register to take part on the day, everybody who registers in advance via the Be Well app or online via the ticket link 🔗 will be guaranteed a certificate of completion to be collected on the day of the walk.
Those who haven't booked an activity with Be Well before will simply need to create a free booking account at checkout. You do not need to be a Be Well fitness member and you will not be charged.
Anyone who registers and makes a donation of £10 or more will also receive a branded tote bag as a special thank you.

What is the Memory Walk?
It’s estimated there are more than 980,000 people living with dementia in the UK and we can all do our bit to help.
The idea of the Wigan Borough Memory Walk is to bring people together as a community to raise awareness and funds – with every penny donated to the Alzheimer’s Society.
It’s also an opportunity for those whose lives have been touched by dementia to share happy memories of friends and loved ones who may no longer be with us.
Our Memory Walks are for everyone – no matter your age or level of activity.
You will have the option of taking part in a short, accessible stroll that anyone can enjoy or a longer, more challenging route for those who fancy going the extra mile. Both walks follow signposted routes, with walk leaders offering support.
Whichever you choose, the emphasis is on fun, having a friendly chat and enjoying ourselves in our beautiful green spaces.
