Golden rays spill across the lawn, beats roll like waves on a summer tide. Laughter rises, time slows, strangers turn into friends. As dusk falls, the Secret Garden awakens, a boutique club at sunset, intimate, electric, alive.
This is Better Together. At the heart are local legends DJs Keegan Kenny and Mark Harman, holding down the residency every month. Each event brings a special guest into the mix and carries its own Edition, one month funk, the next hip hop, then dub, rare groove or summer anthems. Different every time, but always about the same thing: great music, good company, and Sundays spent well.
For our second chapter, we’re diving deep with Dubhead, a true authority in New Zealand’s reggae and dub scene. Host of The Rhythm Selection on 95bFM since 1990, Dubhead curates what he calls “Ghetto Music” spanning vintage ska, rocksteady, roots reggae, dub, dancehall, funk and hip-hop, alongside fresh sounds from here and abroad. This is a free event, with plenty of room for kids to run, adults to unwind, and a lawn that always becomes a dancefloor as the sun dips. The Stables opens its doors once again to locals, visitors, and anyone chasing a Sunday done right.
