The Nine Dimensions of Awareness

How to work with the Nine Dimensions of Awareness through questioning.
First, remember: dimensions are not destinations but mindsets and levels of awareness—tools to help us shift perspective and let go of limiting patterns.

Choose a theme—problem, posture, idea, or habit—and observe how you hold it within you over 12 weeks.
Your theme can be:
• Physical – something you wish to manifest
• Mental – a belief you hold
• Social – relationships you want to create

1D – ONE REALITY
Question: What is the purest form of my theme? If I were a baby, what would be the one and only reality around this theme?
Practice – Yamas (यमाः) | One Reality | Ethical Living
Ethical disciplines for harmonious living.
Key principles:
Ahimsa (अहिंसा) – non-violence
Satya (सत्य) – truthfulness
Asteya (अस्तेय) – non-stealing
Brahmacharya (ब्रह्मचर्य) – moderation
Aparigraha (अपरिग्रह) – non-possessiveness
Sanskrit Verse:
“अहिंसा सत्य अस्तेय ब्रह्मचर्य अपरिग्रहा यमाः”
Ahiṁsā satya asteya brahmacarya aparigrahā yamāḥ – Yoga Sūtra 2.30
Translation: Non-violence, truth, non-stealing, celibacy, and non-possessiveness are the Yamas.

2D – DUALITY
Question: What do I see as good or bad around my theme in my first reaction? What is the purpose, definition, and quality of plus and minus? Can one exist without the other?
Practice – Niyamas (नियमाः) | Polarity | Inner Discipline
Personal observances for self-growth.
Key practices:
Śauca (शौच) – cleanliness
Santoṣa (सन्तोष) – contentment
Tapas (तपः) – discipline
Svādhyāya (स्वाध्याय) – self-study
Īśvarapraṇidhāna (ईश्वरप्रणिधान) – surrender to a higher power
Sanskrit Verse:
“शौच सन्तोष तपः स्वाध्याय ईश्वरप्रणिधानानि नियमाः”
Śauca santoṣa tapaḥ svādhyāya īśvarapraṇidhānāni niyamāḥ – Yoga Sūtra 2.32
Translation: Cleanliness, contentment, discipline, self-study, and surrender are the Niyamas.

3D – EXPERIENCE
Question: What do I believe? What idea am I attached to? How do I see that in physicality and matters around me? How does my body and breath respond in and around my physical?
Practice – Āsana (आसन) | Experience | Physical Posture
Sanskrit Verse:
“स्थिरसुखमासनम्”
Sthira sukham āsanam – Yoga Sūtra 2.46
Translation: The posture should be steady and comfortable.

4D – FREQUENCY
Question: What is the flow of my theme? When did my beliefs begin? What does I see in my past starting and into my future developing? Do they create expansion or restriction in my life force and my gifts?
Practice – Prāṇāyāma (प्राणायाम) | Frequency | Breath Regulation
Sanskrit Verse:
“तस्मिन्सति श्वासप्रश्वासयोर्गतिविच्छेदः प्राणायामः”
Tasmin sati śvāsa-praśvāsa-yor gati-vicchedaḥ prāṇāyāmaḥ – Yoga Sūtra 2.49
Translation: Prāṇāyāma is the conscious pause in the flow of inhalation and exhalation.

5D – PURPOSE
Question: What are my senses doing around this theme? Can I withdraw from them to see clearly? Can I choose not to react on circumstances and stay present?
Practice – Pratyāhāra (प्रत्याहार) | Purpose | Sense Withdrawal
Sanskrit Verse:
“स्वविषयासंप्रयोगे चित्तस्य स्वरूपानुकार इवेन्द्रियाणां प्रत्याहारः”
Svaviṣayāsaṁprayoge cittasya svarūpānukāra ivendriyāṇāṁ pratyāhāraḥ – Yoga Sūtra 2.54
Translation: Sense withdrawal is the inward turning of the senses to align with the mind.

6D – MISSION
Question: What belief is most helpful to focus on? What new habit do I want to repeat to release the old? How would that repetition (practice) look like?
Practice – Dhāraṇā (धारणा) | Mission | Concentration
Sanskrit Verse:
“देशबन्धश्चित्तस्य धारणा”
Deśa-bandhaḥ cittasya dhāraṇā – Yoga Sūtra 3.1
Translation: Concentration is fixing the mind on one object.

7D – ENLIGHTENMENT / SEPARATION
Question: Are my ideas still useful? Can I shift my attention at will? What is the difference between being and happening? Can I see or regulate where my attention goes?
Practice – Dhyāna (ध्यान) | Enlightenment | Meditation
Sanskrit Verse:
“तत्र प्रत्ययैकतानता ध्यानम्”
Tatra pratyayaikatānatā dhyānam – Yoga Sūtra 3.2
Translation: Meditation is the uninterrupted flow of awareness.

8D – ETERNITY / ONENESS
Question: Are my ideas unique or universal? Do I exist only now or beyond time and space? Is there something in me that never changes?
Practice – Samādhi (समाधि) | Eternity | Absorption
Sanskrit Verse:
“तदेवार्थमात्रनिर्भासं स्वरूपशून्यमिव समाधिः”
Tadeva artha-mātranirbhāsaṁ svarūpa-śūnyam iva samādhiḥ – Yoga Sūtra 3.3
Translation: Samādhi is the merging of the observer with the observed.

9D – DIVINITY / ENDLESS WISDOM
Question: Does my individuality control the oneness I am part of? Am I in control or am I blessed and given all I need to experience life? What if my attention is part of the divine—always here, now and forever?
Practice – Divinity | Realization of the Self
Sanskrit Verse:
“सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज”
Sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja – Bhagavad Gītā 18.66
Translation: Abandon all forms of dharma and surrender to Me alone.

These nine dimensions guide the journey from self-awareness to universal connection, offering tools for clarity, resilience, and unity.

Practicing 9-dimensional awareness trains body, mind, and relationships to move with greater clarity and purpose.
• Physically: Enhances posture, breath, and nervous system regulation
• Mentally: Builds focus, reprograms limiting beliefs, strengthens emotional resilience through neuroplasticity
• Socially: Deepens empathy, refines communication, supports conscious connection with others
