Loudoun Symphonic Winds with Clarinetist Doreen Ketchens

Known as “Lady Louie,” “Queen Clarinet,” and “Miss Satchmo,” New Orleans clarinetist and vocalist Doreen Ketchens shares the stage with Loudoun Symphonic Winds, performing traditional and hot jazz classics. Come out and hear her hit and hold high notes for long periods of time like the great trumpeter Louis Armstrong. Effortlessly powering out gravelly notes and then switching it up to hit the highest notes the instrument can register, you'll have to hear it to believe it! Ketchens has performed for four U.S. presidents - Bill Clinton, George H. W. Bush, Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter. Her commitment and passion for the music marks her as a cultural ambassador of New Orleans traditional music.
