Charity Fishing Tournament for Wounded Warrior

Come join us at the Leesburg Landing for a day of fun and fishing in support of our wounded warriors! This in-person event will bring together fishing enthusiasts and supporters of our military heroes for a great cause. Grab your gear, reel in some big catches, and enjoy a day by the water while giving back to those who have sacrificed so much for our country. • Silver Sponsor for $350 – Includes- Fees for ONE Boat (2 Anglers), Cost for Big Fish entry for each angler, 6 Raffle Tickets Per Angler, Logo on Sign, Food, T-Shirt for each Angler.
• Bronze Sponsor for $250 – Fees for ONE Boat (2 Anglers), Food, T-Shirt for each Angler. Logo on sign.
• TEAM-ONLY for $150 – Fees for ONE Boat (2 Anglers), Food, T-Shirt for each Angler.

1. Participants and Eligibility: The tournament is open to Southern Co. employees, Southern Co. subsidiary employees, and retired employees of Southern Company. Additionally, family members and friends of the above may fish including the public.

2. Registration: Each contestant must first sign a liability waiver with a tournament official at the Registration table. Contestants may sign up no later than 3:00 pm CST, of Friday, April 25th, 2025. All monies must be paid in full to complete registration.

3. Entry Fee: Contestants will be fishing for Largemouth and Spotted Bass. $150 per boat with up to 2 person teams per boat, an additional $10 fee will be optional for the big fish. Launch order will be based on the registration order received. Registration begins before 6 am CST on May 3rd, 2025.

4. Prizes: This will be a 50/50 prize money award after 15 boats, with min of $1,500 total prize money with a minimum of 15 boats registered based on $150 per team with additional funds going to the charity. Prizes awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. 1st place gets 70% of prize money, 2nd place gets 20% of prize money, and 3rd place gets 10% of prize money. Cash prize will vary depending on participation. There will also be a separate 100% pot for the big fish award.

5. Permitted Fishing Locations: All waters of Weiss Lake, Alabama are authorized to fish unless otherwise posted or restricted per state law.

6. Tournament Hours: Fishing will begin at Safe Daylight, and weigh-in will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m. CST per official time. Prior to launch, all live wells must be inspected and flagged by tournament official. Launch order will be based on registration order. All boats must be inside buoys by 3pm. Weigh-in will conclude once the tournament officials have decided that everyone in attendance has had the opportunity to weigh in their catch. Those showing up late, after the official has determined the weigh-in is closed, will be disqualified.

7. Weather Conditions: The tournament will be held regardless of weather conditions except for severe lightning. If this condition exists, the tournament will be rescheduled for a later date.

8. Scoring: No trolling! Largemouth Bass must be 12 inches in length or more. Spotted Bass must be 12 inches or more. Contestants will be allowed to record the weight of only 5 fish entered. However, if a contestant has two or more fish, which are close in weight, each of the fish can be weighed to determine the larger fish. Per each contestant, 1st dead fish will be deducted ½ a pound. 2nd dead fish will be deducted 1 pound. 3rd dead fish of contestant will result in a disqualification from tournament. NO LIVE BAIT WILL BE PERMITTED!

9. Ties: In the event of a tie, the bigger fish out of both contestants will be the tie breaker. The second tie breaker will be the length of the fish (if necessary).

10. Sportsmanship/Conduct: No alcohol is to be consumed while fishing/during the tournament! All competitors are expected to show sportsmanship and courtesy to others while fishing. Please do not fish in the proximity of others unless fishing with that party. All contestants are expected to abide by Alabama Department of Natural Resources rules and regulations and follow Alabama Boating Regulations! *THE STATE OF ALABAMA REQUIRES THE CAPTIAN TO POSSES A BOATER’S LICENSE* Remember, this is a benefit tournament for The Wounded Warrior Project, via Citizens of Georgia Power. Please exhibit Southern Style behavior at all times!
