Hi folks the walk for next week will be Saturday 19th July 5pm at St edwards woods.
PARKING: Leek Rugby Club, Altrad Park, Chestnut Walk, Cheddleton, Leek ST13 7BJ. Parking here is at your own risk, or on street parking nearby. The walk is not affiliated with the rugby club however I've never had any issues parking here for walks.
Meeting place: the entrance to the car park which is also the entrance to the woods.
BRING: basket/cotton bag, snips, jam jar or two if wanting to make products, small gardening fork or glove for nettles/digging up small roots. We will be doing lots of gathering on this walk as summer is really abundant now. If you are familiar with making herbal tinctures and oils, you may want to ensure you have drying space/sunflower or olive oil/vodka or everclear or apple cider vinegar in at home already. If not, you can purchase after when we've talked about what we are making. No need to bring other ingredients with you unless you want to and are happy to carry them.
ROUTE: 2 miles, typical woodland terrain, some rough underfoot with tree roots, old railway track. No stiles or climbing. No benches. Initial down hill then flat. Uphill on way back (same hill). 1hr to 1.5hrs depending on walking speed/gathering speed/question time.
If you came to the kids group on solstice, it's the same walk however we will be going into more depth and talking about other herbs as well.
AS ALWAYS: All walks are £5 per adult, kids free, come along anyway if the £5 is a stretch at the moment as herbs are the people's medicine and education around it should be accessible for all. No booking is required but I'll ask for a show of hands poll a day ish before. Kids and Dogs welcome. I'll be bringing my off-lead adult golden retriever - if anyone is very anxious about dogs please message me. She adores other dogs but respects their "no" if yours isn't super social.
