In this full-day workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own silk flower from scratch using specialist tools, then build it into a stunning fascinator by adding vintage nets, beads, feathers, crystals and pretty trimmings.
You’ll learn:
•How to choose suitable fabric for flower-making
• How to stabilise the edges of petals so that they don’t fray
• How to shape, curl and construct petals using heated tools
• How to wire stamens
• How to add netting, beads and trims
• How to assemble and then secure your flower to a fascinator base
• Hand-stitching techniques to give a professional finish.�
You’ll leave at the end of the workshop with a beautifully finished silk flower fascinator and a folder of notes to help you continue your millinery journey.
All materials and haberdashery are included.
Flower-making and basic sewing tools are provided but if you have a favourite pair of scissors etc bring them with you.
Skill Level: Only basic craft and hand-sewing skills are required.
Venue: The workshop is held at Bibelot in Leek, in a beautiful light-filled workroom, which is on the second floor and accessed by two flights of stairs. Bibelot is a beautiful shop with a well-stocked fabric, yarn & haberdashery department.
Tea or coffee, and delicious homemade cakes are included. Lunch is NOT included, so please bring your own.
