KU School of Music Welcomes Composer Dr. Dan Forrest for Residency

The KU School of Music is pleased to host renowned composer and KU alumnus Dr. Dan Forrest for a special performance this May. This exciting collaboration between the Choral, Orchestra, and Composition areas will offer a range of engaging activities open to students and the community.

Dr. Forrest’s residency schedule includes:

Lecture with the Composition Forum – Friday, May 2 at 3:30 p.m.
Graduate Conducting Student Coaching – Saturday afternoon, May 3 (focusing on Requiem for the Living)
Open Conversation with Conducting Students – Saturday, May 3
Pre-Concert Lecture – Sunday, May 4 at 2:30 p.m., Bales Recital Hall
Concert – Sunday, May 4 at 3:00 p.m., Bales Recital Hall (free and open to the public)
The concert will feature the KU Treble Choir performing Forrest’s The Sun Never Says for Treble Choir and cello, as well as the KU Chamber Choir and KU Chamber Orchestra presenting Requiem for the Living with graduate student conductors Elena Cressy, María Domínguez, and Oliver Yan.
