Join us Wednesday, 8/13 from 5:30 pm-close for a special fundraiser supporting the Municipal Stadium at Hobbs Park Legacy Project. For every pint of Blood Orange Radler, Garden Party, and Yakimaniac IPA sold, Free State will donate $1 to the cause. Our proprietor Chuck Magerl, who played many years of City League softball at Hobbs and lived across the street, will personally match every dollar raised.
This historic Lawrence ballpark has been part of our community since 1947. It was once a home to Negro League teams like the Kansas City Monarchs and is still a gathering place for local athletes today. The grandstand and field now need major repairs, and community support is essential.
Funds raised will help secure a National Register of Historic Places nomination, unlocking access to tax credits and grants to preserve this space for generations to come.
