The Averill Award | A Summer Youth Theatre Lifetime Achievement Award
Join us as we honor 52 years of Summer Youth Theatre with a lifetime achievement award presented to Jeff Sherr and Rebecca Sherr Christian. This special pre-show presentation takes place on July 25th, on the MainStage. This Annual Award Ceremony recognizes Summer Youth Theatre alums and honors their work and dedication in the field of performing arts.

ABOUT THE AWARD WINNERS:
Jeff Sherr is a Lawrence, Kansas native and proud alum of the Summer Youth Theatre program. Now based in Lexington, Kentucky, he performs regularly with Central Kentucky Improv. Favorite stage roles include Scott Connor in American Son, Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, and Prospero in The Tempest. Jeff holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Kansas and trained with the National Shakespeare Conservatory. Offstage, he is a lifelong public defender and currently is a trainer with the National Association for Public Defense.
Rebecca Sherr Christian is the Producing Director of Dope Girl Movement, a Seattle-based hip hop dance production company dedicated to elevating the artistry of hip hop dance while creating visibility and professional opportunities for local dancers and choreographers. She also serves as the Marketing & Human Resources Consultant for Metis Construction, a worker-owned company she helped launch and shape from its inception. A key player in its early development, she later served on the Metis Board of Trustees for five years, including a term as Board Chair. With a career spanning leadership roles at Intiman Theatre, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, Seattle Opera, and the New York Foundation, Rebecca brings decades of experience in arts management, fundraising, labor relations, and HR – with a proven track record in organizational development and building companies from the ground up. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Kansas, is a graduate of Seattle’s Leadership Tomorrow, and has served on selection panels for the National Endowment for the Arts, national theatre labor committees, and nonprofit boards. Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, Rebecca has called Seattle home for over 30 years. She enjoys traveling, giving back through volunteering, and spending time with her family.
