About Danielle: is a digital artist based out of Jupiter,Florida, born on Long Island, New York. Originally trained in the classic mediums with a focus in Photography at Alexander W Dreyfoos School of the Arts. With an art foundation, she transitioned to Graphic Design for her formal education. Recently, she has expanded to incorporate her traditional art background with her program-based knowledge, and with the intuitive programs/devices available today - this has allowed her the opportunity to create more organically in a digital format. Her inspiration is rooted in the aesthetics of portraiture, graffiti art, tattoo design (inspired by her husband Michael Asfour), & the desire to finally create noncommercial pieces inspired by her 9-year-old daughter, who herself is an incredibly artistically gifted prodigy. Danielle is passionate about working in digital media as it is the base of our current daily life. She has designed for a variety of Local Businesses such as logo’s for Grease Burger Bar, Monarchy Night Club, Biostem Technologies, as well as received national attention in having been part of the behind the scenes of the Show Trending Today when it was on the Discovery Channel.
About Dawn (In her own words): I’m educated as a biologist, but my first love is art. I started doing art as a child and over the years, I have taken classes and trained with some of the best. However, I was dogged by self-doubt about my art, so I focused on education, doing art on the side. After many years of therapy, I have tamed some of demons of self-doubt and returned to my first love of art.
Blending my two loves of science and art, I currently create sea turtle paintings and ceramic jellyfish with the goal of giving back to my community. I have taught for years about conservation and preservation of our environment. And now my art is allowing me to put my money where my mouth is. A portion of every sales go to support the Marine Environmental Education Center at Hollywood Beach.
MY work is mixed media. My sea turtle paintings use either acrylic and oil or acrylic and resin. I use a variety of techniques such an acrylic pour background on my old paintings, or a more impressionistic technique on my acrylic with resin. I also include 3d effects on some of my paintings, incorporating ceramic elements.
My ceramic jellyfish use a variety of finishing techniques such as glaze, raku, mica with horsehair and gold luster. The tentacles are wired with marine grade wire, so they can go indoors or out, then finished with either sea glass or gemstones, crystals, pearls and beads.
If you would’ve asked me when I was little what I wanted to be when I grew-up, I would’ve said artist. I’m learning it’s never too late to grow-up.
