Screening and Community Dialogue: "Big Fight in Little Chinatown."

The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art will host a free community screening of the award-winning documentary Big Fight in Little Chinatown, followed by a panel discussion focused on civic engagement, advocacy, and community development.

Directed by Canadian documentarian Karen Cho, Big Fight in Little Chinatown visits Chinatown areas in Vancouver, Montreal, and New York, to see how local communities are fighting to preserve their identities in the face of gentrification, demographic change, and unique regional challenges.

The panel will be moderated by Nevada Chinese Association President Jenny Koo. It includes Dr. Christina Ong (postdoctoral scholar in UNLV’s Asian and Asian American Studies Program), Elenis Wong (UNLV Ethnic Studies Department instructor), and Minjia Yan (Director at Millennium Commercial Properties).

The screening takes place in the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art auditorium from 3:00–4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26. The panel will meet afterwards from 4:30–5:30 p.m. Attendance is free. RSVP is recommended but not required.
