Join Kelly Schwarze, director and filmmaker for a hands-on workshop focused on performance driven communication between actors and directors. Through exercises, participants will develop core skills in practical directing, enabling them to sustain authentic performances regardless of a director's technical skill or experience level.
Participants will:
Learn how to give clear playable emotional direction that you can immediately use.
Acquire techniques for protecting your performance dominated by technical priorities.
Gain tools you can use to self-adjust and stay grounded when direction is minimal or unclear.
Develop a shared language between actors and directors that supports trust and collaboration.
Learn practical on-set strategies for navigating fast paced productions.
Instructions for Participants:
Be prepared to take part in light scene work and peer directing exercises.
Short sides will be provided. Memorization is not required.
Comfortable clothing is recommended.

About Kelly Schwarze
Kelly Schwarze is an Emmy-winning director, filmmaker and educator. Kelly has directed projects ranging from independent features to national broadcast spots. He works closely with actors to prioritize emotional truth over technical distraction. His approach emphasizes trust communication. Kelly is the founder of Indie Film Factory and Dynamic Pudding where he mentors emerging filmmakers and performers.
