Seldon Canyon River Paddle! A staycation adventure!!
Skill Level: moderate, must be a good swimmer, know how to paddle around islands, under bridges, paddle in place, control your boat.
This is a longer paddle; we do not allow small children as the sun can be strong, and you are on the river for 3 hours in a remote setting. (17 and above)
A beautiful remote stretch of the Rio Grande! Tall canyon walls on one side of you, grazing horses and cattle on the other side!
The Rio narrows in this stretch of river, becoming faster and deeper, a cool paddle!!
This 9-mile, 3 hour guided river paddle takes you through a remote area of the river, along a steep canyon wall at Seldon Canyon,
Because the cell phones don't work in this area, and access is limited, you will be accompanied by two of our river guides to make sure you get through safely.
We provide cold bottled water and yummy snacks for your after- paddle snacks. (Fresh fruit platters, gourmet cheeses and crackers. chips and salsa and ice- cold drinks)
We will meet you at La Larona City Park off Picacho street in Las Cruces. You will leave your vehicles at the parking lot, and we will transport you by van to the put-in spot north of Leasburg Dam.
We will unload boats, outfit your group with life jackets/paddles and give you a short river safety talk before pushing you off the riverbank.
2- river guides will accompany your group. Your group will paddle for 9 miles, and we will be waiting on the rivers bend to help you pull out. We will van transport your group back to the City Park.
Please note: Limited seating for this fun adventure! We can only take 11 guests in our boats. You can choose from single kayaks, tandem kayaks, or 2-person canoes during checkout.
When: July 20th, 2025, Sunday
Meetup time: 9:00 am sharp at the park.
Meetup spot: La Llorona Park, Las Cruces, NM
Age permitted: 17 and above.
Duration: approx. 3 hours paddling, and 1.5 hours transport up and back. Back about 2:00pm
Pricing:
Single Kayak $145.
Tandem Kayak: $280.00 (plus Tax) this amount includes two guests
Canoe: $280.00 (plus tax) this amount includes two guests
