It’s time to once again make Good Trouble in Largo on July 17th from 4-6 pm by Largo Central Park.
Before saying no, think about this: As much as some of us might want to simply give up after witnessing last week’s self-serving, non-American and downright cruel decisions of the current administration and its supporters, now is NOT the time to retreat. Remember: Every single successful movement in US history — the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Suffrage Movement, the Labor Movement, the Anti-War Movement, the Marriage Equality Movement — experienced setbacks as they gained momentum.
Today more than ever, we must recommit to nonviolent civil resistance if we have any chance to halt our country’s trajectory toward full authoritarianism.
NONE OF US CAN DO EVERYTHING; EACH OF US CAN DO SOMETHING!
On June 17th, you have a chance to do something by publicly joining millions of other Americans across the country to show you are not giving up on resistance or dissent. On this day (I know it’s on a weekday but there’s a reason), a coalition of organizations have chosen to come together for “Good Trouble Lives On” — a national day to honor Congressman John Lewis five years after his death. Millions will stand on sidewalks, in front of courthouses, and in other community spaces to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice; create meaningful change; and carry forward his fight for justice, voting rights and dignity for all.
