***Already got a couple of questions, so I figured I’d address them here.
Dress Code: Semi-formal—slacks and a button-down or polo for the guys, cocktail dress or equivalent for the ladies.
Plus-Ones & Kids: Significant others and kiddos are absolutely invited. Just let me know if you’re bringing family so we can get an accurate headcount. The venue is a good size, but space isn’t unlimited.**
After a lot of whiteboarding, deliberation, and some heartache, we’ve finally decided on a location for my retirement ceremony. Traditionally, I would have held it at my final duty station, and while I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve gained on an Air Force base, it just doesn’t feel like the right place to close this chapter.
We also considered hosting it at a base I previously served on, but the logistics were just too much. So, we’ve decided to go home—the ceremony will be held in Scottsboro, AL, where I grew up.
I know this might make travel a challenge for some, and we completely understand if you can’t make the trip. But for those who can, we’d love to have you there! The more, the merrier—everyone is invited. Details are still being worked out, but expect a full military ceremony followed by beverages and some damn good Southern food. We’re also working on livestreaming the event so everyone who wants to be part of it can be.
Venue & Accommodations
The ceremony will be held at ReTreet, an awesome spot with small treehouse-style cabins. If you plan to stay there, let me know—I can provide a 10% discount code.
There are also several hotel options within a short drive. As we get closer, Naomi or I will post a list to help with planning.
Life has only gotten busier since making the decision to retire, and there are still plenty of details to work out with the ceremony. As we juggle everything, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Right now, we’re focused on getting a headcount of those who can join us to celebrate this milestone. I’ll keep this event page updated with any new information as we finalize the plans.
After nearly 25 years in the Navy, soon I’ll just be Parker again—excited, terrified, and ready for whatever comes next. Hope to see you there!
