Halloween in August is a four day camp/haunt gathering where the Frightfest BC group (FFBC) gets together to build a haunted house from scratch! All it takes to be a part of the Fright Fest group is participation and a love of Halloween (and not being a turd).
Halloween in August with Frightfest BC is a hands-on event. It’s not a convention where you come, look, listen and leave. Instead you’re playing an active role in building a haunt from the ground up. We learn from each other and get inspired for new ideas for our own Halloween activities in the fall.
We require everyone who attends to help out and there are numerous ways –construction, decorating, prepping group meals, errand running/supplies, clean up etc. When you register we can discuss what might be right for you. All attendees help out during the night of the haunt.
Expect to exchange ideas and discuss techniques, catch up with old friends and meet new ones. We may also hold seminars and make-and-take sessions where everyone makes a prop, step by step and takes it home after the haunt.
Any FFBC member who’s interested can create their own room in the haunted house or offer to team up with others to create a collaborative scene. Check out the current discussions on our Facebook page as we discuss the rooms and themes. We generally ask that people attend for a year before building their own room.
