Landrum Library Speaker Series: Carolina Wild!

South Carolina is a treasure trove of diverse ecosystems, offering us a rich tapestry of wildlife. This program aims to introduce participants to the native mammals, reptiles and amphibians, fish, insects, and birds of South Carolina, while emphasizing the importance of preservation and conservation and fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world and inspire active involvement in conservation efforts.

Melissa Fuentes was raised in Eagle Pass, TX, a small border town nestled against the rugged beauty of the Texas hill country. Her childhood was filled with adventure—hunting, catching armadillos and snakes, and immersing herself in the wild landscapes that shaped her love for the natural world. That passion soon extended beyond exploration and into academia, where she developed a deep curiosity for science, literature, and the arts.
