Supporting a Community Police Review Board

Councilor Janet Diaz is putting forward an ordinance during the Public Safety Subcommittee that would form a Community Police Review Board.

The Board as it is proposed is a mix of six residents and three police force members. It is strictly advisory as to not interfere with the existing union agreement. It is not only tasked with reviewing complaints to consider policy recommendations, but also giving recommendations on community engagement and the budget.

Please attend this meeting in order to encourage the other subcommittee members, Councilors Ahmed and Hursh, to bring this ordinance to full council for a first reading on August 12th. Make sure your elected officials know you support forming a Community Police Review Board!
