Neenach BioBlitz

We will be lead on this BioBlitz by Los Angeles County Natural Areas Biologist Cristhian Mace and Regional Park Superintendent of Wildlife and Wildflower Sanctuaries, Olivia Miseroy. This is one of the less documented preserves in the Antelope Valley in terms of iNaturalist observations. There have been less than 50 recorded iNaturalist observations in this area over the past 4 years and less than 150 in total over 10 years. Species previously observed here include Sphaeralcea ambigua (Apricot Mallow), Linanthus parryae (Sandblossoms), Tyrannus verticalis (Western Kingbird), Nemacladus sigmoideus (Sigmoid Threadplant), Leptosiphon aureus (Golden Lianthus) and Leptosiphon aureus (Desert Shaggy Mane).

Important: 1) The county website lists an incorrect address for this preserve, so follow the instructions under "Directions." 2) An iNaturalist training on 5/16 at the Lancaster Library was organized to prepare for this event (). Have iNaturalist downloaded onto your phone and log in to your account. 3) There will be no restrooms at this location, plan accordingly.

Directions: From CA-14 N, Take exit 49 for CA-138 W/W Avenue D toward Gorman; Turn Left onto CA-138 W/W Ave D; Turn Right onto 210th St W and the dirt lot will be on your Left follow the sign directing you to continue along the dirt road to the meeting spot.
