Vanish Film Showing with Jim Westphalen

Old homes, barns, churches, industrial sites, and other historic buildings dot the rural American landscape, the Adirondack region included. While we celebrate preservation success stories, many buildings remain endangered. Even in a state of disrepair, these sites evoke a range of emotions. Fine art photographer Jim Westphalen’s film, Vanish: Disappearing Icons of a Rural America, chronicles his work to document the nation’s disappearing rural architecture. Westphalen’s evocative film showcases these structures front and center and highlights the people working to preserve their stories. Join AARCH at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts for a special regional showing and Q&A session with the filmmaker.

The film showing starts at 7 PM followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker at 8:30 PM. Tickets are $15 and are available through the Lake Placid Center for the Arts website here: https://www.lakeplacidarts.org/event/vanish/
