Is your homeschool student curious about nature? Do they enjoy spending time outside? If so, join ADK naturalists as we explore the ecosystems at ADK’s Heart Lake Program Center in the winter.
This series of hands-on classes will take us into a winter wonderland. Through games, crafts, and other activities, students will learn how energy flows through an ecosystem, changing the phases of matter as it moves.
This program meets for three hours every other Monday in January, February, and March. All six dates are included in the program fee. A multi-child discount will automatically be applied after your first student is registered. Please make sure your student is prepared to spend the whole program outside. Parents and guardians are required to stay on site during the program and are encouraged to hike with us. Tag-alongs under the age of 5 are welcome as well and do not need to be registered. However, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising them throughout the program. Restrooms and wifi are available for the duration of the program.
Parents and guardians should plan on meeting with instructors at 9:30 a.m. at ADK’s High Peaks Information Center, located at 1002 Adirondack Loj Rd, Lake Placid, NY 12946. The course will run until approximately 12:30 p.m. The program will be cancelled in the event that the Lake Placid School District has a snow day or it is unsafe to be outside (ie. high winds, temperatures below 15ºF).
Health insurance is required to attend.
