About the event

The Connection: Support Group & Training for Foster/Adoptive Parents
Join other caregivers for a video-based training and support group taught by the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, co-founder of TBRI. Dinner provided.

About this Event

The Connection: Where Hearts Meet is an interactive group study designed to help you and your child build lasting, loving connection. You will be encouraged and equipped with practical tools, based on Biblical values and evidence-based interventions specifically developed for adoptive, foster, kinship and safe families. The training portion of the group features Dr. Karyn Purvis instructing us on the TBRI principles that help you learn the best way to empower, connect and correct your children.

The group meets at 5:15 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest in room N226 of the Nursery Building next to the Worship Center. We will provide pizza and salad to eat before we start the group.

At 5:45, if you have children you will need to check them into the children's program or send teens to the Refinery for student program.

You’ll receive a certificate of attendance for a continuation training hour that is accepted by foster licencing agencies.

The group is facilitated by Tristen McGhee. Tristen is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Practitioner, a loving adoptive mom, and a dedicated foster/adoptive parent trainer. Her extensive experience has allowed her to guide vulnerable families towards a path of hope and healing, nurturing bonds that truly matter. Her advocacy for children with early childhood trauma backgrounds has driven her to pursue a Master of Education in Trauma and Neuroscience, deepening her knowledge to make an even greater impact. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Tristen is an adoptive mom who wears multiple hats. She's a Trust Based Relational Intervention Practitioner and a Foster Kinship Continuing Education Trainer, dedicating over a decade to developing curriculum and advocating for foster and adopted kids. What sets her apart is that she lives and breathes the unique challenges that foster and adoptive families face every day. Her unwavering passion lies in helping these families discover hope and healing on their journey of raising children with relational trauma backgrounds.
