Teen Photo Club (Ages 12–16)
Thursdays | 9 Weeks | Flourish Studio & Classroom + Local Outdoor Spots
Back by popular demand—with a fresh twist! Flourish’s Teen PhotoClub invites young artists to explore the art and practice of photography in a relaxed, drop-in format.
Over 9 weeks, we’ll dive into photography techniques and creative challenges designed to build both skill and confidence—whether you're snapping with a smartphone or a DSLR.
Each session will cover a new theme or concept, with plenty of time to practice, explore, and connect with other creative teens. Teens can attend the weeks that work best for them, and those who participate in multiple sessions are invited to take part in an
optional Gallery Week after the final week.
Weekly Themes:
Week 1: Learn the Camera - Dive into settings, features, and how to shoot with what you’ve got.
Week 2: Composition & Distractions - Understand what makes a photo work—and what takes away from it.
Week 3: Rule of Thirds & Balance - Find structure and visual harmony through classic compositional rules.
Week 4: Guiding Lines & Focus - Lead the eye and sharpen your subject with intention.
Week 5: Lighting - Explore natural and artificial light, shadows, and reflections.
Week 6: Portraits - Practice capturing people, emotion, and connection.
Week 7: Movement & Mood - Use blur, angles, and dynamic framing to tell a story.
Week 8: Editing & Selection - Learn simple editing tools and curate your best work.
Week 9: Creative Challenge + Gallery Prep (Optional) - Wrap up with a final hands-on challenge—designed to apply everything we’ve learned in one creative shoot.
Additional Info:
Teens should bring their own camera—anything from phones to DSLRs is perfect.
Some weeks may include outdoor photo walks—weather permitting.
This is a drop-off style club—teens can come independently; adults are always welcome to stay (or take notes and practice with us) if they’d like.
Drop in for one session or attend them all! Each week stands on its own while building toward a bigger creative journey.
Teens attending multiple weeks are eligible for the Gallery Week the week of Oct. 19.
