STEM Saturday: The Power of Magnets

Join us Saturday, May 10 from 10am-2pm for STEM Saturday: The Power of Magnets, sponsored by a grant from Halliburton. UL Lafayette Physics Students will be at UL Lafayette Science Museum with extra activities all about magnets and electricity At any given time, there are on average 50 magnetic systems within 20 feet of you. Your phone relies on small magnets, your car relies on larger magnets, and jet engines rely on even larger magnets. Come learn magnetism and electricity, watch a magnet stop itself before colliding with a metal block and experience small electromagnetic lightning!

STEM Saturday activities are included with regular museum admission. Activities are open-ended allowing visitors to come and go while touring exhibits and the planetarium. Best for elementary and middle school ages, but older kids and adults can have fun learning something new or helping younger children.
