Experience the restorative power of movement, voice, and sound in a tranquil, LGBTQIA+ environment designed to nurture your mind, body and spirit. Connecting to our bodies and authentic selves can be a challenge when we are immersed in negative messages and unsafe environments. But we deserve spaces where we can let our guard down, release stress and emotion, and play in creative self-expression.
This workshop will include:
- Release with Vocal Toning: Connect with the elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Space) through vocal toning, as we collectively release stress. Vocal Toning is an ancient method of healing that utilizes your voice making vowel sounds with Bija Mantras to alter vibrations in every cell in the body, returning your body, mind, and emotions back to a balanced state.
- Embody and Express with Meditative Dance: Deepen into your body with mindful, meditative dance. We will connect with body sensations, breath, and your own version of authentic, expressive movement. Carefully curated music and gentle verbal guidance invite you to tune in to the body’s natural rhythms and wisdom, release stuck emotions, and embody your unique gifts and strengths.
- Restore with Sound & Visualizations: A sound bath is an immersive meditative experience where participants are “bathed” in soothing sound and vibrations. As you rest comfortably, the resonant tones of crystal bowls, gongs, buffalo drum, ocean drum, hand pan, and chimes help to shift your brainwaves into a state of relaxation and healing. You will be invited to Integrate your self discoveries with art and community sharing.
Facilitated by Expressive Arts Therapist and Sound Meditation / Vocal Toning Facilitator Janis Wille, MA, LPC, ATR, RYT (she/her), and Dance/Movement Therapist and Dance Meditation Facilitator Lauren Pass Erickson, MA, LPC, R-DMT (she/they).
