We invite you to register for a masterclass in storytelling and film making with Glen Pitre on May 21st at the Roy House on the campus of UL Lafayette. A native of Cut Off, Louisiana, Glen Pitre has spent the past five decades documenting, interpreting, and celebrating the complex cultural landscapes of his home state. Join us to celebrate his career and win of the 2024 James William Rivers Prize in Louisiana Studies.
Pitre's groundbreaking Louisiana Trilogy— Belizaire the Cajun, The Smuggler’s Wife, and The Man Who Came Back— brought Louisiana’s unique stories to a worldwide audience. Beyond cinema, Pitre has made significant contributions to Louisiana scholarship through his work in museum curation, historical documentation, and cultural advocacy.
To celebrate Glen receiving the Rivers Prize in Louisiana Studies, the Center for Louisiana Studies has invited him to host a masterclass at the historic J. Arthur Roy House on the campus of UL Lafayette. Spots are limited and registration is required.
