Erin Wallace Lovett, Ph.D., LCSW
Attachment Theory Specialist | Trauma Therapist | Clinical Educator
Dr. Erin Wallace Lovett is a licensed clinical social worker with advanced expertise in attachment theory and its clinical applications. With over a decade of experience in both research and therapeutic practice, she helps clinicians understand the lifelong impact of early relational patterns on emotional development, trauma recovery, and mental health.
Dr. Lovett holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from Louisiana State University, where her academic focus centered on attachment theory across her graduate studies. Her Master’s thesis explored caregiver verbalizations in group settings and their association with children’s attachment security. While her dissertation utilized family systems theory to accommodate her research on older children, attachment theory remained central to her scholarly and clinical lens.
In her private practice, Red Couch Counseling, LLC, she provides trauma-informed care to individuals with PTSD, C-PTSD, personality disorders, and addiction. Her approach is rooted in attachment-informed care and incorporates EMDR, Brainspotting, Sand Tray Therapy, DBT, CBT, and work with dissociative parts.
Dr. Lovett has contributed to clinical program evaluations, including the federally funded Project LAUNCH initiative, and has presented at the Zero-to-Three Conference and LSU Academic Symposium. She has also served as a guest lecturer on family policy and child mental health systems.
Her continuing education courses are designed to translate the complexities of attachment theory into clinically actionable insights for mental health professionals working with children, adults, couples, and families.
