Awesome haystack rocks, tree-capped islands, long beaches, ghost trees in the forest, a fishing village and a boat harbor. Everywhere you go there are striking subjects for painting at Rialto Beach, Second Beach, and the village of La Push, WA.
If you plan to join this paint out it is strongly recommended that you book your accomodation/camp ground as soon as possible.
Day 1 - Wednesday, July 16 - Rialto Beach
Rialto Beach parking lot. Meet at the parking lot at Rialto Beach at 9:00 am. There are a variety of painting subjects including the beach itself, James Island, weathered and dead trees near the parking lot, and the offshore rocks. For those who wish to make the 1.5-mile trek down the beach, the Hole-In-The-Wall rocks are a dramatic subject. Be prepared for windy and foggy weather. Low tide is 10:55 am.
Lunch : Bring sack lunch. At 12:30, we’ll gather for lunch at the North end of the Rialto Beach parking lot.
Day 2 -Thursday July 17 - Second Beach
Meet at the trail entrance at the parking lot located one mile South of La Push at 9:00 am. Hiking to Second Beach requires a half-mile walk over a trail that is steep as it goes down to the beach. Be prepared to pack your gear in. There are huge haystack rocks, tide pools, and rock cliffs where the trail meets the beach. Low tide is 11:37 am. Lunch - Bring a sack lunch. We’ll meet at 12:30 pm, where the trail meets the beach.
Day 3 - Friday, July 18 - La Push Harbor
Meet at 9:00 am at the harbor parking lot in the middle of La Push. Painting subjects include the boat harbor, James Island, and the village of La Push.
Lunch 12:30. Bring a sack lunch or we can have lunch at River’s Edge Restaurant in La Push.
Recommended Lodging/camping:
Area campgrounds and motels are filling up fast, so make your reservations early. The early reservation period for Mora Campground is full, although there are more openings as the time comes closer.
Directions : From Forks, WA, take State Highway 110 West 13 miles to Rialto Beach.
