🌿 Mother & Child Drum Making Workshop
Date: Saturday, May 31 10:00AM – Sunday, June 1, 4.30PM
Location: Soul Seed Sanctuary,
10 Shirley Drive, Taradale, VIC (Dja Dja Wurrung Country)
For: Mothers and children aged 8+
Spots: Limited to 6 pairs
Step into a deeply sacred experience with your child as you honour their birth and weave your shared story into a handmade drum. The drum is more than an instrument, it carries the heartbeat of the Earth which is the first sound a child hears in the womb.
This process works to journey through your birth memories and shared experiences through the retelling of your child’s birth. A cherished connective time capturing your child’s special place within the world symbolised by their unique rhythmic drum beat. A weekend of:
Exploring the realms of birth and re envisioning a new version of a shared tapestry of love, belonging and a profound connection to self and land.
Exploring birth lineage and crafting a medicine drum.
Connecting with others and living in community with like minded souls.
Connecting to the rhythms of the season
Once your drum is made, it becomes a powerful tool for connection, grounding, and ritual. Use it for meditation, journeying, rhythm, and healing—whether to soothe and centre your child, mark transitions, or call in the wisdom of the ancestors.
Over this two-day workshop, you and your child will:
🌿 Create a 12-inch ceremonial drum from ethically sourced kangaroo hide
🌀 Honour your child’s birth story
🔥 Learn traditional drum-making techniques
💫 Infuse your drum with intention
🎨 Handcraft a felted drum beater using natural materials
🌾 Engage in storytelling, connection, and sacred space-holding
Camping & Accommodation
⛺ Camping is included in the price—immerse yourself in nature at Soul Seed Sanctuary under the stars.
🌿 BYO camp gear or reach out if you need to borrow some items.
Why Make a Drum Together?
Explore and Deepen your connection with your child
Open up a different way of being in way of self awareness, triggers and protection
Alchemise your child’s or your own birth trauma and/or ancestral lineage from being a wound that is a burden to carry into a gift/strength that you share with the world.
This workshop is more than crafting—it is a rite of passage, a way to:
🌀 Celebrate the journey of birth and life
💗 Honour the wisdom of the mother-child bond
🌿 Create a sacred tool for rhythm, ceremony, and connection
The medicine drum can be used to support bringing your little one back into balance, strengthen the connection between the two of you, support the physical health of your child and send healing energy to mother earth.
DRUM MATERIALS
Each drum will be crafted using ethically sourced kangaroo hide and a 12 inch willow framed hoop
Kangaroo Medicine
Kangaroo medicine offers the characteristics of the animal’s qualities – symbolising a safe pouch-like home environment, strength, resilience, stamina and balance.
