The Kyle Public Library invites you to Fiesta de las Flores, a lively celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month featuring music, poetry, dance, and community.
Event Schedule:
12:00 p.m. – Wallace Middle School Mariachi
1:00 p.m. – Poetry by Dr. Gloria Velásquez
Dr. Velásquez, originally from Michoacán, México, came to the United States at the age of 12. After teaching herself to read and write in Spanish and English, she went on to earn multiple degrees, including a doctorate in Adult, Professional, and Community Education in 2024. She has taught Spanish at Texas State University since 2002 and is also the advisor for Grupo Folklórico Ocotochtli. Stop by to listen to her perform her original poetry.
1:30 p.m. – Ballet Folklórico performance by Grupo Folklórico Ocotochtli, Texas State University’s student ballet folklórico organization
Those in attendance may also enjoy free food and drinks provided by Pollo Campero while supplies last.
