Firefly is pleased to welcome author and Kutztown University Alum Suzy Shaw with her first published book Mothers of Boys Survival Guide. She will be available to discuss her book and meet others who are navigating the challenges of raising the current generation of boys. This is a Free event and open to the public.
Mothers of Boys Survival Guide is a book full of sensible insights on parenting boys. It is written with warmth, humor, and openness. If you are looking for practical advice from a “big sister,” this is the book for you.
“I wrote this book hoping that sharing my lessons learned and humor while raising boys will bring a smile to the reader’s face and spark an idea on how to navigate the trials of motherhood. I share our family’s journey in raising two Gen Z boys. Included are also random tips from me and ‘Sister Sense’ that I picked up from my nine sisters-in-law and sister-friends (too many to count). It’s my hope that you, dear members of the Mothers of Boys (MOB), get a chuckle, some tips, and are a little kinder to yourself when you have similar experiences with your boys.”
Suzy Shaw is a mom and an award winning video and digital media producer. She is the owner of Flame Digital Communications and has raised two boys in the Annapolis, Maryland area with her husband. She has written and produced many video productions and websites, but this is her first book. Her productions include Pride: Legacy of the Baltimore Clipper - A documentary narrated by James Earl Jones that tells the story of Pride of Baltimore, which sank in a sudden storm, and the first five years of Pride II; Out of the Egg - A children’s program produced for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources that follows three kids as they discover what comes out of eggs.
Suzy also has a weekly podcast about parenting, featuring experts on a range of topics:
