We’re proud to announce a brand-new monthly event at Birdwing, where our café transforms into a living gallery. Each month we’ll showcase the work of a local artist, celebrating creativity, expression, and community right here in Kuranda. From vibrant canvases to soulful photography, every exhibition will be paired with themed food and drinks inspired by the artist’s vision, because we believe art should be immersive, tasted as well as seen. Join us for captivating evenings filled with art, flavour, drinks, and the chance to meet the artist.
Metamorphosis @ Birdwing is about transformation of space, of perspective, and of community through art. We will proudly launch our monthly art series with the stunning work of Liliana Pathania.
“I love India, and travelled there three years ago to live permanently. Due to visa restrictions, a lifestyle developed that involved constant movement through India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. The paintings are a result of that travel. They were a joy to do, and acted as a wonderful icebreaker where language communication was not possible. I have always loved portraiture and working with oil paint. I hope you will enjoy the journey with me.” Liliana Pathania
Liliana has been living and traveling through India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, immersing herself in the rhythms, traditions, and communities she encountered. Inspired deeply by the people and cultures of the region, Liliana presents a collection of oil portraits that capture the beauty, connection, and spirit she discovered along the way. Her work functions as a language without words, a way of communicating human warmth and shared experience across cultural and linguistic divides. Through her brushstrokes, Liliana invites us to journey alongside her, seeing and feeling the world as she has lived it. Vibrant, soulful, and profoundly human.
Join us this Thursday 28th August from 5pm at Birdwing Café, Kuranda. Entry by donation ($10 at the door) includes a serving of Indian-style Kitcheree & Chai to enhance the experience. Come for the art, stay for the food, conversation, and community. This beautiful exhibition will remain in the Café until Sunday 31st August if you are unable to make it on the night.
Follow along, invite your friends, and be part of Kuranda’s creative heartbeat.
