DESCRIPTION:
In my solo interdisciplinary work, A Familiar Vessel, I merge sound art, composition, live voice, theatrics and dance to
demonstrate the feat of the heart. This work gives a voice to the internal processes by externalising them in an honest
way, to give feelings a certain tangibility. ‘A Familiar Vessel’ treads the line between the inside and outside, by
allowing the heart to socialise through interdisciplinary composition. The narrative arch of the piece follows a journey
through excitement, joy, disgust, shame, distress, fear, rage and surprise. This journey of different emotional states is told through non-linguistic performance and embraces the vast communicative potential of the body.
BIO:
Alice Presencer is a performing artist and performance maker whose work is situated within voice and dance practices. Her artistic endeavors span across various disciplines, including singing, dancing, performance art, filmmaking, and choreography. Through the merging of different artistic practices, she strives to encourage the contemplation of the accepted norms within emotional expression.
