Prof. CHUNG Shu Hung Henry

Biography: Henry Shu-Hung Chung received the B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, in 1991 and 1994, respectively.
Since 1995, he has been with the City University of Hong Kong, where he is currently the Dean of Students, a Chair Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, and the Director of the Centre for Smart Energy Conversion and Utilization Research. He has published two books, authored ten research book chapters, and more than 500 technical papers including 250 refereed journal papers in his research areas, and holds 80 patents. His current research interests include renewable energy conversion technologies, lighting technologies, energy harvesting, smart grid technologies, and computational intelligence for power electronic systems.
Dr. Ching is Fellow of IEEE. He was recipient of 2021 IEEE PELS R. David Middlebrook Achievement Award for his contribution to energy utilization technologies for smart cities. He received CityU Outstanding Research Award in 2020 and CityU Teaching Excellence Awards in 2018 and 2022, respectively. He is currently an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics and the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics. He was the Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Power Electronics Letters 2014–2018. He was also the Chair of the Technical Committee of the High-Performance and Emerging Technologies, IEEE Power Electronics Society in 2010–2014. He was the recipient of numerous industrial awards for his invented energy saving technologies
Prof. Saad Mekhilef
Swinburne University of Technology, Australia
Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef is an IEEE and IET Fellow. He is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Science, Computing and Engineering Technologies, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, an Honorary Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Malaya, and a distinguished visiting professor at the Institute of Sustainable Energy, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia. He authored and co-authored more than 800 publications in academic journals and proceedings, five books with more than 61,000 citations, an H-index of 117, and more than 85 Ph.D. students who graduated under his supervision. He serves as an editorial board member for many top journals, such as IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Open Journal of Industrial Electronics, IET Renewable Power Generation, E-Prime, Journal of Power Electronics, and International Journal of Circuit Theory and Applications.
Prof. Mekhilef has been listed by Thomson Reuters (Clarivate Analytics) as one of the world's Highly Cited (World's Top 1%) engineering researchers. He is also listed in the world's top 2 % of scientists by Stanford University, USA. He is actively involved in industrial consultancy for major corporations in Power Electronics and Renewable Energy projects. His research interests include Power Conversion Techniques, Control of Power Converters, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), Renewable Energy, and Energy Efficiency.
Prof. Qian Ai
Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China
Biography: Ai Qian obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Shanghai Jiaotong University, followed by a Master's Degree from Wuhan University, and culminated his academic pursuits with a Ph.D. from Tsinghua University. After a period of postdoctoral research in at the University of Bath and Nanyang Technological University, he returned to Shanghai Jiaotong University in 2003, where he was appointed as a professor in the electrical engineering department. His research focuses on power system operation, virtual power plants, microgrids, power quality power system simulation, big data and its application in power systems regional energy network.
Professor Ai Qian has published over 300 papers and 9 books, including 180 SCI/EI papers. He has more than 20 authorized patents. He has presided over 3 National Natural Funds, 2 National Key Research and Development Programs, and many projects of State Grid and provincial and ministerial levels. Professor Ai Qian is also actively involved in academic editorial work, serving on the editorial boards of several prestigious journals including Electric Power Automation Equipment, Power System Protection and Control, and Distributed Energy. He is a member of many technical committees, including the IEEE Technical Committee on Power Systems, IEEE Technical Committee on Intelligent Control, and IFAC Technical Committee on Adaptive and Learning Systems. He serves as the editor board member of Electric Power Automation Equipment, Power System Protection and Control and Distributed Energy. He is senior member of IEEE.
Prof. Wei Hu
Tsinghua University, China
Dr. Hu Wei commenced his academic journey at Tsinghua University's Department of Electrical Engineering and Applied Electronic Technology in 1993. After completing his doctoral studies in 2002, he continued his academic career at the university. His professional progression includes promotion to associate professor in 2008, appointment as doctoral supervisor in 2012, elevation to researcher in 2021, and assuming the dual roles of Assistant Director and Office Director for the Department of Electrical Engineering in 2020.
An accomplished scholar, Dr. Hu holds distinguished memberships as a Senior Member of both the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering and IEEE, and has been honored as a Fellow of the British Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
In recent years, Dr. Hu has focused his research on three primary domains: power system analysis and control, power big data with artificial intelligence applications, and intelligent energy systems. His extensive research portfolio includes leadership and participation in numerous national-level scientific initiatives, encompassing: National Basic Research 973 Program; National High-tech R&D 863 Program; Key and General Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation; National Science and Technology Support Program; National Key R&D Program.
With an impressive academic output, Dr. Hu has authored or co-authored over 100 journal publications and secured more than 30 invention patents. His research excellence has been recognized through multiple prestigious awards, including: Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award; Triple Gold Medal honors at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions; First Prize of the Ministry of Education's Science and Technology Progress Award; First Prize of Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award.
Prof. Ying Huang
Zhejiang University, China
Prof. Huang Ying, Qiushi Distinguished Professor and doctoral supervisor at Zhejiang University, is a leading expert in power systems, specializing in HVDC transmission, renewable energy integration, and smart grid technologies. With a Ph.D. from Zhejiang University (2005) and 17 years at Southern Power Grid Science Research Institute, she has pioneered breakthroughs in UHVDC and VSC-MTDC systems, directly contributing to China’s landmark power infrastructure projects. An IEEE Senior Member and key contributor to 7 international/national standards, her work has earned China’s top scientific honors—including the National Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress—alongside 60+ patents, 4 books, and 60+ publications. Recognized as a National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter and recipient of the China Power Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award, she bridges cutting-edge research with industry transformation in energy systems.
