On 17 March, New York–based designer and internationally renowned artist Tom Klinkowstein visits Kolding School of Design to donate his work Not All Whens Are Time to the school.
For decades, Klinkowstein has worked at the intersection of design, art and future thinking. His work is part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, and he has taught generations of designers at Pratt Institute and Hofstra University.
Not All Whens Are Time resembles a large visual diagram – but rather than explaining a process from A to B, it opens a landscape of connections, ideas and reflections about how we experience time. Some moments feel like waiting. Others like urgency, care or repetition. The work gathers these different experiences into a visual narrative built around three key concepts: differences, events and possibilities.
The exhibition highlights themes that run throughout Klinkowstein’s work: the planet as the framework for our actions, people as those who live with the consequences, and play as an open and exploratory way of engaging with the world.
Join us for the opening and meet Tom Klinkowstein in person.
