Young Birders Program

Calling all young nature enthusiasts! This Young Birders program is designed especially for kids ages 9–13 who want to build their birdwatching skills and explore the outdoors. Participants will learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, practice using binoculars, and discover how habitat, behavior, and season help us understand what we’re seeing. This program encourages curiosity, observation, and confidence while fostering a lifelong appreciation for birds and conservation.

This program is recommended for children ages 9–13. Please meet at the Bluebird Barn at 1:00 PM. Be prepared to walk 1–2 miles over both paved and unpaved surfaces. For more details about the route we will take, read the Essential Eligibility Criteria. The program will last approximately 2 hours and will include skill-building activities and a guided birding walk.

This is a free program. Adults must remain in the park during the program, and are encouraged to attend with their kids.

Please come prepared with good walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a water bottle, and binoculars if you have them. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
