October Full Moon Hike

October's full moon is known as the Full Harvest Moon. It is named the Full Harvest Moon because it is the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. The moonlight used to provide enough light for farmers to harvest their crops before the arrival of winter.

We will hike about 2.5 miles by the light of the full moon. As we explore parts of Seven Islands, we will discuss the nocturnal animals that live in the park and look for evidence of them as they emerge from their daytime hiding places.

Please plan on meeting Ranger Stephanie at the Bluebird Barn at 7:30pm.

Please bring a flashlight or headlamp with a red light option if you have one. Pets are not allowed on programs, except service animals.
