Cattywampus Puppet Council & SOCM are excited to partner with Inskip Elementary on this community arts parade & block party celebrating the Inskip Neighborhood! Parents, families, and community members are all welcome to join Inskip students for this New Orleans-style walking parade. There will be student-created parade art and lots of additional giant puppets, flags, and other art for participants to carry. Meet us at 11am for the Parade Lineup to grab something to parade with or to make your own art!
Route Map: We’ll line up and begin right in front of the school and then parade the perimeter of Inskip Elementary.
The parade will conclude with a free Block Party on the back lawn of Inskip Elementary, featuring music from Candela (salsa, cumbia, bachata, & meringue band), hip-hop from the Good Guy Collective, and DJ Drewskii. There will also be food trucks, a community resource fair, art & play activities for all ages, aerial circus performances, and more. Bringing a lawn chair or blanket to sit on is highly encouraged!
General parking will be available in and around the school and neighborhood. Road closures will be happening for the parade from 12-12:30pm so be sure to arrive before then if you’ll be parking in this area.
