Overview
A leisurely walk around Threpmuir Reservoir, where we’ll discover the vital role this water supply has played over the years. From there, we’ll gently climb along the side of Black Hill, where even a modest height gain rewards us with stunning, far-reaching views across the Pentland Hills and surrounding countryside.
Our route takes us past the 15th-century Bavelaw Castle, through a charming beech tree avenue, and beside the wildlife-rich landscapes of Bavelaw Marsh and Red Moss, before looping back to our starting point.
This is a perfect walk for those who enjoy a mix of nature, views, and local history.
