Delivered by Aileen McCormack on behalf of Youth 1st.
When working in people facing professions there are many pressures that we balance in order to fulfil our roles. These maybe personal, organisational and/or related to the client group we work with.
We are also susceptible to burn out and compassion fatigue within our roles. The importance of self-care and resilience cannot be understated but are often not fully understood or applied by workers.
This workshop will look at understanding the importance of self-care and resilience when working with people. It maybe of interest to those who want to understand their own self care more and what can be done to help yourself in your role into the future.
This workshop would be suitable for anyone working in people facing professions such as youth workers, community workers, social workers, advice workers, counsellors, teachers, allied health professional etc
Workshop aims:
1. To understand our desire to help in our roles
2. To understand the challenges of working with people and within organisations
3. To explore stress, compassion fatigue and burn out
4. To define resilience and understand what it means to us
5. To Introduce ideas around self-compassion and strategies that support self-care when working with others
This workshop will be facilitated in an informative, relaxed and experiential way, so please be open to a little self-exploration and working with others!
I will also be bringing my own learning and experiences from workand would like participants to bring their experiences also.
