Immerse yourself in the serene practice of Forest Bathing, or shirin-yoku, a Japanese form of forest therapy designed to alleviate the stresses of urban life and hectic schedu les. As Robin Wall Kimmerer beautifully puts it, "Forest bathing invites you to be fully intentional, not to walk through the woods in order to get somewhere, but with the sole purpose of being fully present to yourself and to the lives around you.” Photography will be added to enhance this meditative practice - helping you to see the natural world with fresh, intuitive and gentle eyes.
Picture yourself sitting under Springbank’s majestic 800-year-old Live Oak or wandering through the tranquil woods of Pine, Magnolia, and Cedar. Here, you will be guided to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the natural world around you, finding peace and companionship among the trees.
Complementing this experience is Contemplative Photography, a practice that encourages you to see and photograph the world in fresh, insightful ways. By using the camera on your phone or a traditional camera, you will transform your tool into a medium for visual meditation, revealing the hidden richness and beauty of your surroundings. Together, these practices offer a harmonious blend of mindfulness and creativity, allowing you to embrace the tranquility and wonder of nature.
All skill levels are encouraged to attend to engage in the wonderful meditative practice of shirin yoku with contemplative photography
