Join us in this 3 day introductory class where artist Cole Solis will guide students on how to build collagraph plates and incorporate viscosity printing to print multiple colors simultaneously! Viscosity is a multi-color printmaking technique, also known as “simultaneous color printing,” where one can manipulate inks to be of different thickness and fluidity. This creates a resistance in some inks and allows all colors to be achieved on a single plate. This technique results in unique and ink lush prints!
In this class students will learn various methods of viscosity printing using collagraph or plexiglass plates. Students will create plates from found materials (ex: string, tapes, plants, contact paper, etc.) and learn to coat their plates using inks of different viscosity. Students will learn about the versatile and playful qualities this technique offers. Don't miss this opportunity to add this technique to your artist toolkit!
If students wish to substitute collagraph with a drypoint on plexi-glass, that will be possible too! All materials included.
Parking: Please park on either Iwo Jima Lane or Cedar Street. Parking that is located in front of the Neighborhood Print Studio are for residents living in the Pajama Factory.
