**The idea of SAFIRE **was created by a group of local South Arm Peninsula Artists with the aim to provide a community event where our local artists can showcase their work.
Calverton Hall will be the main arena for the stalls – all manned by the artists. We are hoping to run a café within the Community Centre – coffee and cake and that sort of thing.
St Barnabas will also be on board, they, together with Cricklewood (our favourite animal rescue people) will have an animal nursery at St Barnabas. Plus other activities at the church.
Check out our FB page closer to the event for updates.
***SAFIRE*** will run over a two day period in the middle of July (when our local market takes a break) We will also have as many local food trucks as we can muster up and to top it off, music will be local musicians – ***busking!*** – an opportunity to show off local talented musicians.
Imagine, mid winter fire pots burning, lots of great local food and local musicians to entertain us! – ***Sounds great doesn’t it!.***
Prior to the ***SAFIRE*** weekend, we will be running our Winter Festival. We plan to run workshops over the course of 6 weeks. These workshops are great for learning new skills, and keeping us connected over the winter months. Some of the workshops last year were knitting with the popular Mrs Marsh from the ABC series Rosehaven, rag to yarn, macrame, lantern making, clay mask making and dancing for our littlies was a really popular event.
The program for these workshops will be published at the end of April, so keep an eye out for something that may be of interest. If you have a skill you would like to share, and would like to run a workshop, please let us know asap so we can see if it works within our framework, and I will send you the relevant information.
The old saying that many hands make light work is absolutely true, especially with a community event such as this. If there is anything you can do help make our very first ***SAFIRE*** a roaring success, please make contact.
Hope to see you all at ***SAFIRE!***
