Among the greatest joys of “messing about in boats” is developing your skills to improve the appearance and safety of your vessel.

During Dorothy’s many years of sailing aboard their catamaran, Adagio , she never experienced a serious injury to crew or to the yacht itself. She continually made improvements to the yacht which increased her safety. One of her favorite safety improvements was to utilise Soft Shackles to backup metal fittings, and to connect the anchor bridle to the yacht’s anchor rode and chain.

Dorothy began to share Soft Shackles with fellow cruisers, and continues to enjoy sharing this skill, using her book “Soft Shackles Made Easy”, which she wrote and published with the assistance of Graeme Broxam of the Wooden Boat Guild of Tasmania.
